Scripture Lesson: Psalm 23

Missio Dei

The One Who Seeks The Lost

Week #4

  1. People always are judging Jesus.

Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” - Luke 15:1–2

  1. Jesus loves stories.

Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ - Luke 15:3–6

  1. Jesus loves repentance.

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. - Luke 15:7

Points to Ponder

  1. In the story of the prodigal son and gracious father, with which character do you identify with the most?

  1. Our distribution of grace isn’t dependent on the perfect cleanliness of others. Let’s unpack that statement together. Do we see this being lived out around us?

  1. An agent is both a person representing someone or something and a force that causes something to happen. How does this apply to the phrase “agent of grace”?

  1. What is the difference between being kind and being nice?
