Scripture Lesson: 1 Peter 1:17-21

Missio Dei

Who Do You Think You Are?

Week #3

  1. Know where your confidence comes from.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, - Hebrews 10:19–21

  1. Be sincere in your faith.

let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. - Hebrews 10:22–23

  1. Be a part of a tribe.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. - Hebrews 10:24–25

Points to Ponder

  1. What are some real-life and practical ways we can admonish and encourage one another in our group tonight?

  1. How has our community of believers developed a habit of remembering the past and speaking of a future hope? Is this something we find valuable? How could we better communicate our rich past and wonderful future?

  1. In what ways have you seen the church positively influence our community? (Consider our church specifically, but also the general church in our society.)

  1. What is your favorite story about being a part of the Christian community?

  1. To what extent does the church today look like the early church in its relationship to society? What might need to change in us?
