Scripture Lesson:

Into The Wilderness

The Test – Part 3

Week #5

  1. The devil thinks that the third time is the charm.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.  “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” – Matthew 4:8-9

  1. Jesus is not phased.

Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” – Matthew 4:10

  1. Jesus beats the devil.

Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. – Matthew 4:11

Points To Ponder

  1. Share a time when knowing the right person led you or someone you know to receive special treatment at an event, business, or marketplace. How did you feel when you were given that opportunity?

  1. How can jealousy cause conflict in your relationships?

  1. When has your impatience to have something now left you disappointed later? If you had the same opportunity again, what would you do differently next time?

  1. Has living comfortably led you to stop serving God as an act of worship? How might God be calling you to step up to serve him and his church in this season of Lent?

  1. Who is currently receiving your worship? Are you prepared to commit, or recommit, your allegiance to trusting Christ alone for your salvation?
