OUR EYES ARE ON YOU

Several nations had teamed up against God’s people and were marching out for war unexpectedly.  God’s army was terribly outnumbered, and there was no time to prepare.  Thousands would die.  Thousands more would suffer terribly.  The people would be oppressed for who-knows-how-long.

God’s people gathered at the temple, where the godly king Jehoshaphat stood up and prayed for them all.  And the conclusion of his beautiful words was this:

“For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.”  (2 Chronicles 20:12)

Sometimes the stress is so great, the fear so oppressive, the uncertainty so certain, the pain so intense, that we don’t know what to do anymore, do we?  Where do we look?  Well, there are so many things we don’t know, but there is one thing we know for sure:  Our God is for us.  The one who didn’t spare his own Son, Jesus, but gave him up for us all, that one will certainly provide and work out all things for our good.  Put your eyes upon him; he will not let you down.
